The most important thing after getting hurt in a car accident is to seek the proper medical attention to make sure your injuries are attended to. The emergency room doctors or your family doctors will tell you that you will need rehab treatments so that you would recover from the injuries you sustained in the car accident. These rehab treatments include chiropractic treatments, physiotherapy, acupuncture, massage therapy, etc.

What you need to know is that these rehab treatments are not usually covered by the Government health care service, OHIP. These treatments are paid for by your automobile insurance company. In order to receive payment from your car insurance company, you need to apply for Accident Benefits. To do this, you must inform your insurance company of the accident within 7 days of the accident. They will then send you an application for Accident Benefits.

What you need to know about accident benefits is this: These benefits are paid for by the car insurance company regardless of who is at fault in the accident. So, simply put, you will get the benefits from your auto insurance company if you are injured in a motor vehicle accident even when the accident was your fault.
